Restaurants

INDIAN: Zaika (http://www.zaikaipswich.co.uk/).  This restaurant is actually located way up in Ipswich, Suffolk but has made such an impact on us as far as what good Indian food can be like we decided we must add it to our list.  We ate here a few times during our trip here and loved the mango dishes, acharis, and of course all our other favourites.

*********************************************************************************
ENGLISH: The Book Club (http://www.wearetbc.com/).  While they classify their food as English the menu doesn't line up with any other pub we've been too.  The appetizers were good, the cocktails scratched in chalk on the wall all seemed pretty good.  This place has a really young crowd, a lot of live music, and even a line outside as it gets late in the evening.  Weird art on the wall and a ping pong table in the back room.

*********************************************************************************
THAI: Thai Thai East (http://www.thaithaieast.co.uk/01-Home.html) has a great atmosphere and is a short walk away from the Old Street stop.  While ordering here we found Jolene's cashew chicken dish to be very good but my jungle curry just about killed me.  It's going to take some peer pressure to get me to go back but whatever you do ... don't get the jungle curry.

*********************************************************************************
AMERICAN: Bukowski (http://www.bukowski-grill.co.uk/) is a great burger joint in Shoreditch.  It's a small place actually in an old train boxcar.  We got some great burgers and chips that come with home-made ketchup.

*********************************************************************************
JAPANESE: Life (http://www.life-oldst.com/) is a sushi bar less than a mile walk up Old Street.  Very friendly staff with some interesting full meal options and all the expected classic options from a Japanese restaurant.

*********************************************************************************
SPANISH: Pinchito (http://www.pinchito.co.uk/) is right next door and always seems to be packed.  We've finally had the opportunity to eat there a couple times and the food, wine/sangria, and atmosphere have been good and upbeat.  It's pretty easy to spend a couple hours eating tapas here and we've found some of our favorites are the bacon wrapped dates, and the chorizo.

*********************************************************************************
INDIAN: Curry Leaf East (http://www.curryleafeast.co.uk/) is just up the road from us and is really good.  It's also right across the street from  our sports bar and the owner will let you pick up food there if his kitchen is closed.  We've tried the Xacuti Chicken and Lamb Pananda that were both excellent.  Add some garlic naan and Cobra beer to this order and you will plan your next trip as soon as possible.

*********************************************************************************
PORTUGUESE: Nando's (http://www.nandos.co.uk/) is actually a chain that serves peri peri chicken and a bunch of sides to go with it. We actually had some of their Mango & Lime wings with just about all their side options and it was really good for a quick place that you order at the counter and have to go find your own plate and silverware.

*********************************************************************************
AMERICAN: Breakfast Club (http://thebreakfastclubcafes.com/) is a diner that has taken its best crack at American Food (specializing in breakfast).  Bacon, eggs, pancakes, smoothies, with 80's music and a bunch of old advertisements make this place unique and near the top of our list for breakfast options.

*********************************************************************************
ARGENTINE: Gaucho is a Argentine Steakhouse restaurant chain (http://www.gauchorestaurants.co.uk/).  There are a few of these in London but the one that overlooks Tower Bridge is the one to head to.  This place is packed Wednesday to Sunday, has plenty of noise, is dimly lit, and walls covered in fake fuzzy cow hides.  With an atmosphere all it's own and most likely some of the best steak you'll find in London this is place that shouldn't be overlooked.

*********************************************************************************
SCOTTISH: Loch Fyne is a Scottish seafood restaurant close to work (http://shop.lochfyne.com/).  We actually grabbed a few pints with coworkers and this was one of the first places we passed.  The service was very pleasant and the food wasn't bad.  We enjoyed the lobster bisque, seafood green currie, and asian chicken salad with a New Zealand merlot.

*********************************************************************************
SPANISH: Barcelona Tapas y Restaurante: http://www.barcelona-tapas.com/.  Jolene and I hit this place after work one night and got a preselected group of tapas and a bottle of wine.  The food was really good and actually reminded Jolene she likes Spanish food (as long as you don't feed her only tapas for an entire week).

*********************************************************************************
AFRICAN: Shaka-Zulu: http://www.shaka-zulu.com/contact-us.php.  We still need to try to hit this restaurant but we've heard it is as awesome as it's name.
