After initially postponing their first trip to see the new house, my parents finally made it out to Chicago this summer. While we did make it downtown for some of the usual activities, the focus was definitely on the hanging out locally.
We saw the Frank Lloyd Wright homes (torrential downpour half way through made it a two part trip). We also went to the Hemingway home and museum.
We made it to a couple local restaurants but we did quite a few meals at home. The favorite meal was Jolene teaching my family how to do cook her family's childhood favorite, "Chicken Fried Steaks" and the appropriate sides.
The previous month the DiLoretos were in town for Easter but our yard only had one random tulip. Since we made them take a picture as a group with it, it only made sense for my parents to recreate the picture with the side yard in full bloom.
